The Context — The History
Isaiah 25 is a praise psalm within prophetic literature, celebrating God's victory over enemies and death. For exiled and shamed Israel, the promise that the Lord would end death's power and wipe tears offered hope beyond present humiliation.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
On a mountain the Lord prepares feast and destroys the shroud over nations. He swallows up death forever, wipes tears from every face, and removes disgrace from his people throughout the earth. The declaration closes with the Lord has spoken, sealing certainty.
