The Context — The History
Isaiah 60 envisions restored Zion after exile, radiating God's glory to nations. Darkness covered the earth, but upon Israel God's splendor would dawn, drawing kings and peoples to the light of his presence manifested in the life of his people.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
The chapter commands Jerusalem to arise and shine because her light has come and the Lord's glory rises over her. Though darkness covers peoples, the Lord's glory appears over Zion, attracting nations and wealth to the brightness of God's transforming presence.
