The Context — The History
A sinful woman anointed Jesus' feet at the home of Simon the Pharisee. In that culture, Pharisees avoided close contact with known sinners; her public act was bold and costly.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Simon questioned whether Jesus was a prophet since He allowed the woman to touch Him. Jesus told a parable about two debtors forgiven different amounts, then named her great love as evidence of great forgiveness.
