The Context — The History
Jesus entered Jerusalem for Passover amid crowds shouting messianic hopes. The temple had become a place of commerce where merchants profited from required sacrifices and currency exchange.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
After the triumphal entry and weeping over Jerusalem, Jesus entered the temple courts. He drove out those selling, saying His house should be a house of prayer but they had made it a den of robbers.
