The Context — The History
The early church grew rapidly in Jerusalem, creating practical needs among widows and tension over food distribution. Greek-speaking Jews felt their widows were overlooked compared to Hebrew-speaking widows.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Apostles asked the church to choose seven men full of Spirit and wisdom to oversee daily service. The Twelve said they would devote themselves to prayer and the ministry of the word while others handled tables.
