The Context — The History
Philip preached in Samaria, and an angel directed him toward Gaza. Ethiopia was a major kingdom south of Egypt; its official held high treasury office under the queen called Candace.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Philip met an Ethiopian eunuch returning from worship in Jerusalem. The Spirit told Philip to approach the chariot, where the man was reading Isaiah's prophecy about the suffering servant.
