The Context — The History
Joel prophesied during locust plague and drought in Judah, calling national lament and return to God. Spirit outpouring language later framed Pentecost in Acts 2 as fulfillment of Joel's promise.

After describing the day of the LORD with darkness and blood, Joel promises restoration and generous Spirit on all flesh—crossing age and gender lines in prophetic experience.
