The Context — The History
Jesus enters Jericho on the way to Passover in Jerusalem. Tax collectors like Zacchaeus were despised collaborators with Rome, yet Jesus stops to bring salvation to a household.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Zacchaeus climbs a sycamore tree to see Jesus. After Jesus invites himself to dinner, Zacchaeus repents and restores what he stole; Jesus declares salvation has come to his house.
