The Context — The History
Paul's resurrection chapter taunts death with Hosea's victory language. Christian hope at Corinth challenged by Greek disdain for bodily resurrection finds triumph in Christ the firstfruits.

After describing the resurrection body and victory over the last enemy, Paul quotes Scripture mockingly: death's sting is sin, sin's power is law, but thanks be to God who gives victory through Jesus.
