The Context — The History
Paul confronts Peter's hypocrisy in Antioch over table fellowship with Gentiles. Justification by faith alone excludes boasting in law-keeping; union with Christ replaces self-directed life.

Paul rebukes Peter for withdrawing from Gentiles. He declares crucifixion with Christ ends self-life; now Christ lives in him and bodily life flows from faith in the Son who loved and gave himself.
