The Context — The History
The Song of the Sea celebrates Israel's deliverance at the Red Sea, one of the earliest poetic responses to redemption in Scripture. Moses and Miriam led worship after Pharaoh's army was destroyed, declaring that the God of the fathers had become present salvation.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Israel crossed the sea on dry ground while Egyptian chariots were swallowed by the waters. On the far shore, Moses and the people sang of God's mighty hand, thrown horse and rider into the sea, and exalted the Lord as warrior and savior.
