The Context — The History
In the wilderness after the exodus, God provided manna daily to teach Israel dependence. Gathering more than a day's portion violated explicit instructions given in a context where trust, not hoarding, defined covenant life with the Lord who led them.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Israel grumbled for food, and God sent manna with clear rules: gather enough for each day, and do not keep leftovers overnight except before the Sabbath. Some ignored Moses, kept extra manna, and found it spoiled by morning, provoking his anger.
