The Context — The History
Nehemiah returned to Jerusalem under Artaxerxes to rebuild the city's walls after exile. Opposition from Sanballat and others made the task dangerous, yet unified labor with wholehearted effort turned rubble into defense and renewed communal identity.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Nehemiah organized families to repair sections of Jerusalem's broken wall. Despite mockery and threats, workers carried tools in one hand and weapons in the other. Progress came because the people labored together with all their heart until half the wall stood rebuilt.
