The Context — The History
Psalm 111 is an acrostic wisdom hymn celebrating God's works and precepts. In the assembly of the upright, wholehearted praise was both doxology and instruction, teaching the next generation that holy awe is the beginning of wise living.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
The psalmist vows to praise the Lord with all his heart among the congregation. He recounts God's glorious deeds, provision, covenant faithfulness, and trustworthy commands. The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom and understanding.
