The Context — The History
Isaiah 30 addresses Judah's plan to ally with Egypt instead of trusting God against Assyria. Political panic drove them toward horses and chariots. God offered a different strategy: repentance, rest, quiet trust—salvation and strength rejected by restless self-reliance.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Though prophets warned, Judah preferred smooth messages and foreign help. God called returning to him in repentance and finding salvation in rest rather than flight. Strength would come through quiet trust, yet the people refused what their crisis required.
