The Context — The History
Jeremiah 10 contrasts the living God with worthless idols crafted by human hands. Exiled Judah faced cultures saturated with image worship. Jeremiah's hymn insists that the Lord alone is without compare, great in power and worthy of reverent fear from nations.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
The chapter mocks idols that cannot speak or move and must be carried. Families decorate them in vain. Jeremiah exalts the King of nations: none is like the Lord, great and mighty in name, the true God who made earth by power and wisdom.
