The Context — The History
Jeremiah's ministry brought loneliness, ridicule, and threat because he spoke God's unpopular word to Judah. Yet he confessed that receiving divine speech was spiritual nourishment and delight, even when that same word made him a target of contempt.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Jeremiah laments being enticed by God and overcome by his word. He did not sit with revelers but sat alone under God's hand. Here he describes eating God's words as joy and heart's delight because he bears the name of the Lord Almighty.
