The Context — The History
Jeremiah 23 condemns shepherds who scatter the flock and promises a righteous Branch from David's line. Amid failed kings and coming exile, God pledged a future ruler whose reign would bring salvation and safety, known by the name The Lord Our Righteous Savior.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
God denounces false prophets and negligent leaders, then announces he will raise a righteous Branch for David. In his days Judah will be saved and Israel dwell securely. He will be called The Lord Our Righteous Savior, uniting kingship and divine righteousness for his people.
