The Context — The History
Mark's Gospel moves quickly, presenting Jesus' ministry in Galilee after John the Baptist's arrest. Roman rule and Jewish hopes for God's kingdom set the stage for Jesus' urgent message.

After His baptism and temptation, Jesus called His first disciples by the Sea of Galilee. He entered Capernaum, taught in the synagogue, and cast out an impure spirit before proclaiming the kingdom's arrival.
