The Context — The History
Jesus spoke at Bethany near Jerusalem, where Lazarus had been dead four days — beyond hope by Jewish custom. Many Jews believed in a future resurrection, but Jesus claimed to be resurrection and life present in person.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Martha met Jesus on the road and confessed faith in the resurrection on the last day. Jesus declares Himself the source of life now and asks Martha the decisive question: Do you believe this?
