The Context — The History
Paul wrote Romans around AD 57 to believers he had not yet met in the capital of the empire. He addressed both Jewish and Gentile Christians and the question of God's righteousness.
The Narrative — The Lead-Up
Romans 2 warns those who judge others while practicing the same sins. Paul asks whether they presume on God's kindness, explaining that His kindness is meant to lead people to repentance rather than complacency.
